Politics and Heroes

First - Watched the season finale of Heroes and WHOA! Way cool. Don’t want to spoil anything, but da-amn… I can’t wait for more.

Been thinking more about politics. Specifically the current political environment in our country and the world. Several days ago I had a conversation with my friend Conrad about politics and the constitution and some of it has been rattling around in my head ever since.

I was thinking about the constitution and current events. Our current environment is not good, no matter what the news says. It could be worse, granted, but it is hard sometimes to see what the people in power are doing and not want to speak out about it. After thinking about what the intent of the constitution was, and how the system works I do take solace in one thing. Even G. Washington was disgusted with the system.

No system of government is perfect, because people aren’t perfect. I think the fundamental problem is one of control and power. If one “party” gets control of the whole government then things that are only their best interest are bound to happen. A system which allows for more diversity and balance of both internal and external powers is really the trick. The parliamentary system is interesting, but I doubt that the US citizen is even willing to admit that our system has flaws - let alone be willing to try and change the way our country works for the benefit of the world. I don’t think I am blowing things out of proportion by saying that either. With the current state of weapons and technology - what our country does effects the entire planet. Perhaps we should think more about that.
